Wynn scoops record-high number of 17 awards at Vocational Skills Competition
Macao, Jun 27, 2025 – The 7th Macao Integrated Tourism and Leisure Enterprises Vocational Skills Competition, organized by the Macao Labour Affairs Bureau and the Macau Federation of Trade Unions, was held at Wynn Palace on June 26-27. In staunch support of the event once again this year, Wynn arranged for a total of 27 team members to join the Gaming & Entertainment Vocational Skills Competition, Hotel Services Vocational Skills Competition, and Gastronomy Vocational Skills Competition, where they competed with their peers from the local hospitality industry, showcased their strengths, and contributed to this platform that facilitates professional skills upgrade, exchange and friendship.
The Macao Integrated Tourism and Leisure Enterprises Vocational Skills Competition has not only set a stage for industry talent to demonstrate their professional capabilities and achievements but has also provided all contestants with an opportunity for mutual exchange and learning. As a competition of practical skills, the event aims to inspire innovation and vigor, motivate industry practitioners to perfect their skills, and comprehensively elevate the service quality and professionalism of the city's integrated tourism and leisure sector. Wynn team members have actively participated in the competition for years and garnered a record-high number of 17 awards this year with their remarkable performance, including Champion (Single), Record Breaking Award and 2 nd Runner-up (Team) in Calculation. Champion (Double and Single) in Chip sorting. Gold award in Rules and Special Gold Award in Customer Service in The Gaming & Entertainment Vocational Skills Competition; Special gold award, Most Efficient Award and Occupational Safety & Health Awareness Award in Housekeeping, Special gold award and Occupational Safety & Health Awareness Award in Facilities Maintenance in The Hotel Services Vocational Skills Competition; Gold Award, The Best Optional Dish and The Best Designated Dim Sum in Chinese Culinary, Special gold award and Table Setting Efficiency award in F&B Western Services in The Gastronomy Vocational Skills Competition. The awards not only testify their outstanding vocational skills and team spirit but also underscore the fruitful results that Wynn has achieved in talent training and development.
Sam Lin, a team member participating in this competition, joined Wynn's Food & Beverage team through the "Creating Better Job Perspectives" internship program launched by the Labour Affairs Bureau and has been promoted from a trainee to a supervisor in just a few years. He noted that, "With support from our company, we started to prepare for this competition as early as several months ago, hoping to showcase the outstanding skill level of Wynn team members. I also hope to gain more practical experience to further enrich my exposure while immersing myself in the professional atmosphere of this spectacular event."
Another participating team member, Tou Wong, joined the Wynn family through the Facilities Trainee Program last year. The program has sparked his keen interest in the Facilities department and driven him to complete a number of professional training courses over the past year. He said, "The company has my heartfelt gratitude for providing continued professional training, which has allowed us to constantly elevate our vocational skills. Through this competition I hope to challenge myself and make breakthroughs, gain a deeper understanding of engineering skills, and broaden new career horizons."
Wynn has run a variety of vocational skill and career development programs over the years. The programs, starting with the Engineering department and now expanded to cover Hotel Operations, Food and Beverage, and Engineering, include the Food & Beverage Services Management Trainee Program and the Facilities Management Trainee Program, which center on fostering management professionals, as well as various skill-based trainee programs for Hotel Operations and Food & Beverage. Guided by Wynn's people-centered philosophy, these initiatives provide a professional platform for the training and advancement of local talent aspiring to join the integrated resort sector. They have supported the growth of hundreds of trainees and successfully nurtured many industry professionals to date.
As a company with deep roots in the local community, Wynn has been actively supporting the Macao SAR Government's "1+4" appropriate economic diversification strategy. The company is committed to leveraging its strengths, such as resources and industry experience, to help Macao residents elevate their vocational skills and competitiveness in the job market and propel the city's industry innovation and diversification together. To give the general public, especially teenagers, a better understanding of vocational skills, Wynn will also participate in the World Youth Skills Day and FUN Career Experience Carnival 2025 on July 5-6, providing skill experience workshops and demonstrations to practically expand career familiarization.
