Wynn Hosts "Wynn Gastronomy Extravaganza – A World Tour of Chili" and "The Macau-Qingdao Beer & Cultural Festival"

Macau, November 1, 2023 — Wynn is hosting a festive "Wynn Gastronomy Extravaganza – A World Tour of Chili" event from November 1 to 5 on the Wynn Palace South Lawn. Chilis take center stage during the five-day "East meets West" event, which brings together food and wine, culinary competitions, and exciting entertainment. At the same time, Wynn Resorts (Macau) S.A., Tsingtao Brewery Company Ltd., Qingdao Haiming City Development Co., Ltd., and the Macau Leisure Tourism Services Innovation Association are jointly organizing "The 3rd Macau-Qingdao Beer & Cultural Festival and the Macau-Qingdao Week" to showcase Macau's unique blend of Chinese and Western cultures and promote the sustainable development of Macau as a "Creative City of Gastronomy".

The opening ceremony for the "Wynn Gastronomy Extravaganza – A World Tour of Chili" and "The 3rd Macau-Qingdao Beer & Cultural Festival and the Macau-Qingdao Week" took place today (November 1) at the Wynn Palace South Lawn. Officiating guests at the ceremony included: Ms. Ku Mei Leng, Chief of Office, representing the Secretary for Economy and Finance of the Macao SAR Government; Ms. Yang Hao, Deputy Director-General of the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR; Mr. Geng Tao, Standing member of the CPC Qingdao Committee, Vice Mayor of Qingdao Municipal People's Government; Mr. Antonio Lei, Director of the Economic Development Bureau of the GuangdongMacao Intensive Co-operation Zone in Hengqin; Mr. Cheng Wai Tong, Deputy Director of Macao Government Tourism Office of the Macao SAR Government and Mr. Frederic Luvisutto, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director of Wynn Macau, Limited.

Mr. Frederic Luvisutto said, "We are excited to officially unveil the 'Wynn Gastronomy Extravaganza – A World Tour of Chili' and 'The 3rd Macau-Qingdao Beer & Cultural Festival and the MacauQingdao Week' at Wynn Palace today. Through these two major culinary events, our aim is to present an international 'culinary carnival' to further build on Macau's role as a UNESCO- 2 designated 'Creative City of Gastronomy'; strengthen the cross-border integration of 'tourism+ gastronomy'; and advance the diversified and sustainable development of Macau's tourism industry."

Ms. Ku Mei Leng said, "With the full resumption of Macau's normal customs clearance process, the number of tourists visiting Macau has gradually increased. The SAR government is pleased to see that Macau's integrated tourism and leisure enterprises alongside industry peers are actively organizing diverse mega events and activities together, developing a distinctive tourism brand for the city."

Mr. Geng Tao said, "The unique charm of Macau and the culture of Qingdao Beer once again coincide, presenting a sumptuous 'cultural feast' to the people of the two cities, as well as building a new platform to deepen cooperation between Qingdao and Macau."

The "Wynn Gastronomy Extravaganza – A World Tour of Chili" brings together great food and wine, culinary competitions, and exciting entertainment. The festive carnival atmosphere at Wynn will feature more than 20 specialty food and beverage stalls; a cultural handicrafts market; a fun kids' playground and live performances. For the first time, Wynn will be hosting a "Chili Cook-Off", where contestants will compete against one another with creative dishes that highlight the versatile flavors of chili. The aim of the "Chili Cook-Off" is to promote the exchange of culinary cultures and provide a platform for local culinary professionals to showcase their talents. Wynn will also sponsor the UBCM Bartender of the Year 2023 – Savor the Seven Continents, organized by the Union of Bartenders & Cocktails of Macau (UBCM). The champion of the UBCM competition will represent Macau at the IBA World Cocktail Championship 2024 in Portugal to boost the development and competitiveness of Macau's Food & Beverage industry. Additionally, Wynn has invited worldrenowned chefs to host food masterclasses to share the cultures around food, ingredients, and cooking techniques of various destinations with local residents and visitors to Macau.

With the aim of promoting mutual exchange and building closer collaborations between Macau and Mainland China, while also strengthening ties between Qingdao and Macau in the fields of culture, tourism, economy and trade, Wynn is once again hosting "The 3rd Macau-Qingdao Beer & Cultural Festival and the Macau-Qingdao Week" this year. The event, which coincides with the 120th Anniversary of Tsingtao Beer, showcases the unique cultures of Macau and Qingdao; strengthens the cross-border integration of "tourism+"; and promotes the diversified and sustainable development of Macau as a World Center of Tourism and Leisure. 3 Wynn has also invited local social service organizations including the Fuhong Society of Macau, the Complexo de Serviços Ngai Chun of the Macau Special Olympics, and the Macau Association for Intellectual Development Services to set up a cultural handicrafts market, where they can sell uniquely Macau handicrafts for charity and promote social inclusion.
