Wynn To Host the Highly Anticipated International Wine Challenge (IWC) A Feast in Honor of Award-Winning Sakes 2024

Macao, July 17, 2024 – Wynn is set to host the International Wine Challenge (IWC) A Feast in Honor of Award-Winning Sakes 2024 from August 2 to 3. Guests can grasp the rare opportunity to engage in a masterclass of Japanese sake, a walkaround tasting session, a Champion Sake Dinner and the IWC Trophy Champion Gala Dinner prepared by Wynn's top chefs. Taking place at Wynn for the fourth time, the IWC sake events demonstrates Wynn's dedication to hosting a wide spectrum of international gastronomic events in Macao, gathering global key thought leaders from the food and beverages industry and top Japanese breweries at the "Creative City of Gastronomy" while providing an exceptional platform to foster conversations and exchange of knowledge and expertise.

Wine writers Robert Joseph and Charles Metcalfe are the masterminds behind IWC, which was founded in London in 1984 to select the world's finest wines. Professional judges from around the world use blind tasting methods to assess the wines on three separate occasions to determine the best of the best. The IWC sake competition was introduced in 2007 and has since become one of the biggest and most influential sake competition outside of Japan and offers an international platform for promoting sake.

Award-winning Sake Masterclass

An award-winning sake masterclass for sake lovers and sommeliers will be hosted by Atsuhide Hoshiyama, a renowned sake professional and director of Japan Sommelier Association (JSA) who has received several accolades and highest qualifications from the JSA authority and the Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET). In this masterclass, Atsuhide will lead wine enthusiasts on a tasting journey to investigate in the finest sakes which received IWC 2024 Trophy Awards, while also sharing his insights and valuable knowledge on each award-winning sake.

Walkaround Tasting

The Walkaround Tasting will invite representatives from nine different breweries to present their IWC 2024 Trophy sakes, including the IWC Champion Sake 2024 winner – Miyakobijin Yaiyou, a Junmai Ginjo produced by Miyakobijin Shuzo Co. Ltd. from the Hyogo prefecture, alongside an exclusive sake collections brought by the breweries. Wine tasting enthusiast will be presented the opportunity to savor the best of Japan's sake offerings in one place and exchange ideas with the brewery representatives.

Champion Sake Dinner

The Champion Sake Dinner is set to feature an exquisite sake pairing menu at Forbes five-starred Mizumi at Wynn Palace. The menu will be curated by Wynn's professional sommelier and Wynn Palace's Mizumi Executive Chef Hironori Maeda, who garnered the prestigious RED U-35 accolade for three consecutive years, being recognized by Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia for his exceptional talent in culinary arts. With his extensive culinary experience, he has recently elevated the dining experience by presenting contemporary Japanese cuisine in a theatrical way and present a variety of new menus that reflect the restaurant's playful personality in celebration of Mizumi's fresh new look.  At the Champion Sake Dinner, Chef Hironori Maeda will present the  finest contemporary Japanese cuisine for guests to savor with Japan's best sakes that have earned the highest accolades from IWC.

IWC Trophy Champion Sake Gala Dinner

Taking place on August 3, the Gala Dinner will bring masterminds of the nine top-rated Trophy Sakes together, presenting their corresponding award-winning sakes with a special menu crafted by Executive Chef Chan Tak Kwong of two Michelin-starred Wing Lei at Wynn Macau and Executive Chef Hironori Maeda of Forbes-recognized Mizumi at Wynn Palace. Together, they will present the exceptional fusion of Chinese and Japanese flavors for guests to savor alongside the finest Japanese sake under the backdrop of the mesmerizing entertainment shows and performance.
