Macau, May 21, 2018 – Renowned as one of the most respected tasting competitions in the world, the International Wine Challenge (IWC) will be hosting its very first IWC Champion Sake series of events at Wynn Palace Cotai and Wynn Macau on June 1 and 2, which will feature a walkabout tasting, a masterclass and sake gala dinners. The events will once again bring the best-in-class gourmet platform to the world-renowned gastronomic city of Macau, where epicureans and food & beverage professionals will gather, mingle and exchange their views.

 

Fifteen IWC Trophy Sakes awarded between 2007 and 2017 will be presented during the series of events which will be held on June 1 and 2 at Wynn Palace and Wynn Macau respectively. The two gala dinners will feature specially curated menus by Wynn's culinary masters, each showcasing different styles of Trophy Sakes paired with innovative Cantonese and Japanese delicacies. Moreover, representatives from the various sake breweries will also be present at the events to share their knowledge and passion about sake.

 

Founded in London in 1984 by famous wine experts, Robert Joseph and Charles Metcalfe, IWC is committed to discovering the finest wines through meticulous judging procedures. The judging process involves professional judges from around the world using blind tasting methods to assess the wines on three separate occasions to determine the best of the best. The IWC sake competition was introduced in 2007 and has since become the biggest sake competition outside of Japan and has thus provided an international platform for sake.

 

In an effort to contribute to the development of the food & beverage and tourism industries in Macau, Wynn will continue to showcase the essence and colors of gastronomy through various kinds of events, such as the recent 'Asia's 50 Best Restaurants 2018' and The Gastronomic Treasure of Macau program. All these have provided a platform to facilitate exchange between industry professionals and have helped to promote the food and beverage culture of Macau.
