Wynn Hosts Vibrant Lion Dance Performances to Usher in the Year of the Snake
Macao, February 4, 2025 – Wynn hosted a series of colorful Chinese New Year celebrations this week to welcome the Year of the Snake. Festive dragon and lion dances as well as the lighting of firecrackers took place at Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace to celebrate auspicious new beginnings and share good wishes with local residents and visitors for a prosperous year ahead.
The traditional Chinese New Year ceremonies were held at Wynn Macau on February 3 (the 6th day of Chinese New Year) and at Wynn Palace on February 4 (the 7th day of Chinese New Year). Ms. Linda Chen, President, Vice Chairman and Executive Director of Wynn Macau, Limited officiated the dragon and lion eye-dotting ceremonies with the Wynn management team to convey well wishes for a successful new year. At the entrance to both resorts, the lion dance teams danced to the beat of drums, and firecrackers were ignited to officially welcome the start of a new year. Following on from the ceremonies, the dragon and lion dance teams “snaked their way” through major destinations inside the two hotel resorts, showing off their “plucking the green” skills to wish visitors good luck, vitality, and strength in the Year of the Snake. The “Tree of Prosperity” and “Goldfish Aquarium” – symbols of good luck at Wynn Macau – were popular photo hot spots with visitors. Local residents and visitors also enjoyed watching the lively performances and admired the festive Chinese New Year décor on display at both resorts.
In continued support of the Macao Government Tourism Office’s annual parade, Wynn participated in the “Parade for Celebration of the Year of the Snake 2025” on January 31 (the 3rd day of Chinese New Year). This year, the Wynn parade float is themed “Wynn Carnival of Events”, representing all of the exciting festivities taking place at Wynn throughout the year. Featuring Wynn’s iconic red and gold hues, the front of the float features a beautiful carousel which highlights the carnival-like atmosphere at Wynn. The float is also decorated with traditional festive patterns of snakes, gold ingots and lanterns which symbolize the arrival of spring, and an abundance of wealth. During the parade, dancers accompanied the float to entertain spectators. The colorful dance performances highlight Macao’s status as a major sports destination with elements of golf, basketball, and motor racing while also celebrating Macao’s recent designation as a “Culture City of East Asia 2025” with traditional dance performances from China, Japan and Korea. For the grand finale, a Chinese-style dance inspired by the magnificent paintings of Qi Baishi showcase China’s rich and profound culture as well as the close bond Macao shares with the motherland. Wynn looks forward to participating in the second Chinese New Year parade on February 8 (the 11th day of Chinese New Year), where it will continue spreading good blessings and joy to local residents and visitors throughout the festive holidays.
