To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao SAR and the 160th birthday of Qi Baishi, Wynn Palace in Macao is presenting the "Lotus Blossoms in Pairs, Plum Blossoms in Clusters – The Artistic World of Qi Baishi" exhibition from 15 December until 15 February 2025. The exhibition is organized by the Beijing Fine Art Academy and the Federation of Associations of Cultural Sectors of Macau, coordinated by the Qi Baishi International Research Center, Macau Lotus TV, Limitada, Classic of Mountain and Sea Research Institute of Macao, Wynn Macau, Limited, China International Exhibition Agency, and Shandong Goldon Digital Creative Co., Ltd., and supported by the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR and the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government. By displaying the digitalized artworks of Qi Baishi, the exhibition aims to showcase the profound heritage of Chinese culture and the unique appeal of Macao, while also exemplifying the promotion of Chinese culture to the world.

Qi Baishi is the most revered, creative, and influential artist in China in the 20th century, who made eminent achievements in poetry, calligraphy, painting, and seal carving. He enjoys a revered reputation both at home and abroad for inheriting the essence of literati paintings and integrating folk art, which enabled him to convey the essence of the Chinese culture through artworks that suit both refined and popular tastes. 2024 marks the 160th anniversary of Qi Baishi's birth. As the academic institution with the largest collection of the master's works worldwide, the Beijing Fine Art Academy has initiated a global campaign in memory of the artist's 160th birth anniversary to promote the cultural identity of the Chinese nation. This exhibition integrates modern technology and traditional aesthetics and uses digital media technologies to showcase the Chinese artistic style of 'moving, searching, travelling, and living' and render a perfect combination of Qi Baishi's calligraphy and paintings with Macao as a 'Culture City of East Asia'. The exhibition theme "Lotus Blossoms in Pairs, Plum Blossoms in Clusters" originates from a poem by poet Su Jipeng from the Qing Dynasty, symbolizing the mutual growth and prosperity of Macao—the 'Lotus Flower in Full Bloom'—and the motherland. Qi Baishi is a representative artist of modern Chinese painting, and his works are known for taking lotus and plum blossoms as the theme to express his affection and longing for his hometown. The exhibition also aims to convey to the public the best wishes for reunion and harmony. Held in special collaboration with Wynn Macau, Limited, this exhibition in Macao is a new innovative project of Illuminarium at Wynn Palace that demonstrates Wynn's steadfast support to the "1 + 4" industrial diversification strategy of the Macao SAR Government and the city's economic diversification and high-quality development while also leveraging Macao's role in connecting Chinese and Western cultures to promote Chinese arts and culture on the international stage.

The exhibition gives a comprehensive showcase of Qi Baishi's artistic appeal in two sections. With cutting-edge digital technology, the first section "Tianqu Scenery Paintings: Digital Art World of Qi Baishi" will bring the master's works to life at the Illuminarium and draw viewers into the fantastic artistic world through immersive experiences. Under two sub-themes "Blossoming Flowers of Home: Bird-and-Flower World of Qi Baishi" and "Joyous Flowers for a Prosperous Year: Auspicious World of Qi Baishi," the second section displays the artist's Chinese painting masterpieces depicting auspicious objects such as lotuses and other flowers and plants, interactively inviting viewers to open the scrolls on their own and experience Chinese literati's way of appreciating calligraphy and paintings.

The opening ceremony of the exhibition "Lotus Blossoms in Pairs, Plum Blossoms in Clusters – The Artistic World of Qi Baishi" will be held at Illuminarium at Wynn Palace at 3 p.m. on December 15, 2024, along with an immersive performance. The exhibition will then be open to the public with free admission from 11 a.m.to 7 p.m. on Tuesday to Sunday until February 15, 2025. All are welcome to visit and experience Qi Baishi's fascinating artistry and the profound Chinese culture.
